The 14 most important things you should do to prepare for a hurricane

Hurricane Michael, a Category 4 storm, is strengthening quickly as it moves toward the Florida Panhandle. It is expected to make landfall Wednesday afternoon.

Florida Gov. Rick Scott of Florida has declared a state of emergency in 35 counties. He said Hurricane Michael could be the most devastating storm to hit the area in decades.

Michael had sustained winds of nearly 150 mph as of 11:30 a.m. ET on Wednesday. According to the National Hurricane Center’s most recent update, the storm could produce a storm surge of up to 14 feet in some areas.
