Remember Yamato-vs.-Coens Diversity Contretemps?

Just under three years ago Jen Yamato, then with the Daily Beast, tried to hold Joel and Ethan Coen‘s feet to the fire over a lack of diversity in the casting of Hail, Caesar!. Even though the farcical film was set in Hollywood of the early ’50s, a far less inclusive era compared to today’s and in fact a time of racial restrictions, Yamato felt that the “overwhelming whiteness” of Hail Caesar! was a problem.
