YA Onscreen: It’s CAPTAIN MARVEL Week

Welcome to another edition of YA Onscreen! I’m filling in for Stephanie while she’s on a UK vacation and seething with jealousy wishing her the absolute best time.

And now, for the news.

I won’t be seeing Captain Marvel until Thursday evening, but reviews abound. (Any negative reviews seem to be coming pretty much only from men … *side eye*) I won’t be reading them ‘cause I’m on a strict #NoSpoilers diet, but here’s one from our friends over at Birth Movies Death.

The third best thing about Captain Marvel—third to Captain Marvel herself and Goose the cat—is Clark Gregg’s Agent Phil Coulson “returning” to the MCU. Here’s an interview with the man himself. (I love him a whole lot, guys.)

We might be getting a TV show based on Stacey Lee’s Under a Painted Sky!

Tahereh Mafi’s A Very Large Expanse of Sea has also been optioned.

The trailer for the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones is here.

Netflix found a “crossover” between Riverdale and 13 Reasons Why.

Here’s a list of all the new TV pilots in the works, including a bunch over at the CW.

The first photos from the second season of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina suggest a love triangle.

The trailer for the Amazon Prime adaptation of Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman’s Good Omens dropped this morning, and I AM EXCITE.

Disney+ is getting series that focuses on Disney’s villains.

And, maybe, a show that seems more YA-centric: Secret Society of Second-Born Royals, which “follows a fifteen-year-old girl who’s the second child of a queen discovers that her summer school is actually a secret training camp for second-born royals with superpowers.”

Sherlock Holmes 3—the one starring Tony Stark and Yon-Rogg RDJ and Jude Law—has been bumped to 2021.

My eyes just rolled back so far in my head that I nearly fell off the couch: Will Smith will star in a movie about Venus and Serena Williams’s … father.

Here’s a teaser trailer for the upcoming AMC horror show based on Joe Hill’s NOS4A2.

A Hello Kitty movie is happening.

And, not to end this week’s collection on a sad note, but FYA HQ was heartbroken when the news broke Monday that Luke Perry had died. Here’s a lovely round-up of tributes.

What did I miss? Head to the comments to let me know, or to chat about any of the above!
