Teen Queen Madness: Seventeen, Round Two

Welcome back to the Seventeen bracket, which was (thankfully) not nearly as difficult as some other brackets have been in the early stages. We had some MAJOR upsets in this bracket, though! Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, and Tia & Tamera Mowry, ranked 4th, 5th and 6th, were plummeled by Keri Russell, ranked 13, Destiny’s Child, ranked 12, and Tiffani Amber Thiessen, ranked at 11. Which upsets will we see this week? Things get a skosh tougher in this round, so gird your loins!

Before we begin, here’s the interactive Seventeen bracket if you’re playing at home:

We’re sharing favorite GIFs of our leading ladies this week, so let’s GIF this party started (ha ha ha)!

(1) Alicia Silverstone vs. (8) Jennifer Love Hewitt

Alicia became a teen idol when, at the incredibly young age of 16 (!), she played a schoolgirl rebel in a string of Aerosmith videos. But she didn’t become a household name until Cher Horowitz in Clueless slingshot her to stardom the next year. Nearly 25 years later, every line she uttered is still a part of our vernacular (As if! Whatever! Oops, my bad! I’m totally buggin’!) and her iconic outfits are still being copied.

The late 90s were all J.Love all the time, but few parts were as iconic as her first big role as Virginal Brunette Who Gets To Live, aka Julie James, in I Know What You Did Last Summer and it’s cleverly named sequel I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.

What are you waiting for, huh? VOTE!

Alicia Silverstone or Jennifer Love Hewitt?

  (12) Destiny’s Child vs. (13) Keri Russell

Bills, Bills, Bills, Survivor, Bug A Boo, Bootylicious…Destiny’s Child had too many hits to name back in the day, but the one I could still sing every lyric to will forever be Say My Name.

Our beloved, awkward college kid beat out beloved, awkward Taylor Swift, which, IMO is pretty huge and a testament to just how much FYA readers will forever stan Felicity.

Question. Tell me what you think about these:

Destiny’s Child or Keri Russell?(11) Tiffani Amber Thiessen vs. (3) Blake Lively

Even though I’ve always been a Jessie Spano at heart, there’s no denying that Kelly Kapowski was the O.G. cool girl on Saved by the Bell. She was pretty, perky, had perfect hair and a seemingly endless amount of crop tops. And she got to makeout with Zack Morris on the regs.

We fell in love with Blake as Bridget Vreeland in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, but it was her part as Serena Van Der Woodsen on Gossip Girl that secured Blake as teen queen royalty. You know you love her, xoxo.

Spotted: The queen of Bayside High in a battle royale against the queen of the Upper East Side. Only one it girl can wear this crown. Who am I voting for? That’s one secret I’ll never tell.

Tiffani Amber Thiessen or Blake Lively?

(7) Jennifer Lawrence vs. (2) Kirsten Dunst

Lawrence was proving her acting chops from the get-go, with an Oscar nomination for Winter’s Bone that was essentially our introduction to America’s newest sweetheart. But when she was cast as Katniss Everdeen in the much anticipated Hunger Games movies, we knew this badass was The Next Big Thing.

Like Lawrence, Kirsten secured a major acting nod at a very young age, when she was nominated for a Golden Globe for Interview With A Vampire at just 12 years old! By the time she was a teen, we knew her well as Amy March in Little Women and as the star of Jumanji. There were almost too many great roles to choose from, but for Teen Queen March Madness purposes, I had to go with her turn as Torrance Shipman in Bring It On, a movie that somehow made brushing your teeth sexy.

Who do you volunteer as tribute?

Jennifer Lawrence or Kirsten Dunst?

Time to vote like your life depends on it. The polls are open until Saturday at midnight CST, and results will be posted on Sunday.
